DJ AM swallowed a handful of OxyContin pills and had another still in his mouth when he was found dead in his apartment on Aug. 28, a law enforcement source has alleged to PEOPLE.According to the report, DJ AM — real name Adam Goldstein — had eight undigested OxyContin pills in his stomach, which suggests he downed them in quick succession. The source believes Goldstein “was going unconscious when he took the last one. He didn’t even swallow it,” adding to the theory that the celebrity deejay committed suicide.
The official autopsy and toxicology results have not been released.
As was revealed in prior reports, crack cocaine and a pipe were found near the body. PEOPLE’s source believes Goldstein “smoked a lot of crack, barricaded the doors and killed himself.”
Also found in Goldstein’s New York apartment was a Valentine’s Day card from his ex-girlfriend Haley Wood. The pair broke up in recent weeks.
“The card was lying on top of his laptops on the coffee table in the living room,” the source says.
